A preview scan from the latest Hobby Japan magazine, featuring the upcoming 1/8 scale figure of “Hanzo Hatori” from Hyakka-Ryoran by Alter ^^
As you can see from the scans, looks like there will be 2 different versions of the figure; One with a Shuriken and the other with a Dual-Katana.
It’s true that she will be Hobby Japan magazine Mail Order exclusive, but that’s might not be the case anymore. With the release of 2 versions of the figure they might have decided to release one as a Regular Release, in this case the Dual Katana for the exclusive.
They have also postponed the pre-orders to November 2009 issue of the magazine. Previously it was meant to be October 2009 issue.
Of course I could be wrong about the regular release. I came to that since they listed 2 different information for both versions; Shuriken under Alter and Katana under Hobby Japan ^^;

This figure is something that one needs to be seen painted, especially the skirt-blades.
I like the dual-sword much better, yes.
I think people need to stop spending time on releasing unpainted figures and spend time on painting them instead 😉 Of course, the bonus in this setup is that they get to release pictures twice, and keep it in people’s minds longer.
But who pre-orders a figure before they see it painted?

Alter has been doing an amazing job lately… they are churning out so many great figures so fast!
Makes me feel bad knowing i’ll have to sacrafice a lot of these figures to buy stuff like those new Max Factory Figmas & vocaloid puchi nendos… I’ve been trying to stick to a “articulated figure only” diet, but Alter sure is making it hard!
