This new 1/7 scale figure of “Selvaria Bles Valkyria Ver.” from Valkyria Chronicles, will be available this coming September 2010 by Alter for 9,800 Yen retail price. Hobby Search is taking reservations for her as of today.
Mercedes is also up for Re-release ^^

So her lance doesn’t need support like in the prototype pictures? Looks very beautiful. I was expecting a more aggressive face because she looks like she is going into battle. I haven’t played the game yet, so does anyone know if she actually smiles in the game? All the promo pictures I’ve seen have her looking serious and angry.

No I don’t think she does smile unless she did for a sec and I missed it. but I am saying this because I have Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3 and I have seen her.

Usually she is very stern looking in the game and I can’t really recall her smile (if she did, it was rare). However, the smile is subtle enough on the figure that it works and doesn’t feel out of place at all. Fantastic sculpt that is so dynamic (no visible seams either!) and it looks just like her. Also is great that they pulled off the pose without needing support for the arm (though I’m not surprised with some of the other poses that Alter has done for other figures). I’d be great if Alter did an Alicia and a Welkin as well. Hell, lot of the characters from VC would be great as figures. Definitely picking this one up!
Ragnablade, you should pick up the game if you have a PS3. It’s only $20 at many places (like Amazon) and a must play if you like RPGs at all.

Thanks for the info Shinobi2u. I actually did buy the game even though I don’t have a PS3….yet. I was afraid it was going to be hard to find when I finally did get a PS3. I bought the game for its art direction and wanted to support it. I hope SEGA brings it over to XBOX 360. After looking at the figure more and more, she is climbing up my priority list of figures to get. Alter really captured her character of a commanding warrior issuing commands. At least from the promo screenshots I’ve seen.

Eh she does need support for the arm. It just is not shown in the promo pictures. Try having a weapon for that and you will have a leaning figure or broken arm in 6 months or less.

By the way Selvaria did smile, when she went to the dinner party with Jaeger, but that hardly counts as a battle scene.

Make the arm out of ABS and shove a metal rod in it…Works fine.
Alter isn’t one to shy away from showing support arms in promo picture if they really are needed. Go look up the promo pictures of Alter’s Fate to see what I mean.

It is a possibility, however, it depends on how heavy the lance is as well (depending on the type of material) as how it is constructed (if it is hollow or solid). It could be done, after all, numerous Alter figures in the past have done one legged poses and other poses that looked like they would lean or break, but didn’t (I have several like this that have displayed well over a year without problems). The uncolored prototype did use a support, but it doesn’t necessarily reflect how the final product will be constructed. PVC quality has improved greatly over the last few years. Even if it does have a support in the end, I won’t mind.
I’m assuming you are referring to the anime when she smiles? She does smile in the anime, but I think Ragnablade was asking more about the game. I am somewhat biased to the anime as it was so loose on the story and characters compared to the game. It wasn’t as good as I was hoping, though I did like having some more background for some of the characters (like Maximilian).

Support stand or not I’d like to own this figure. Even if they give her a support stand I have faith that Alter will make it something subtle that doesn’t take away too much from the figure.
