GSC x Max’s Sculptor’s Try Out 2010

Some of you probably have known this, but Good Smile Company and Max Factory is going to hold a “Sculptor’s Try Out 2010” event to give a chance for people who are aiming to be a Figure Prototype Master and interested to be working with companies such as GSC or Max Factory ^^

Basically they required you to create your own Decoration Master figure based on the criteria given.

1. The characters can only be from the following series:

sc

– Vocaloid series: Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, Kaito. Meiko

sc

– Fate/Stay Night (Any Character)

sc

– Queen’s Blade (Any Character)

2. There are no restriction on the Scale requirement, but the size/height are required to be atleast 60mm and up to 400mm maximum.

3. The figure must be your own work. You can also submit your past work as long as it’s from the series given (see above).

4. Your Decoration Master must not be in colour. Basically with only Surfacer applied.

After you are done with all that, you then need to submit your application through E-mail to tryout@goodsmile.jp and include the following information and attachment:

– Your Name or Dealer Name
– Work Nickname
– Material used for your Decoration Master
– Working Hours per Day
– Production Theme
9 photos preview of your work through e-mail (8 different angles + 1 best shot). Size not more than 3mb.

Application will start on Febuary 2nd, 2010.

    Ho..this is interesting. GSC asking for Vocaloid or F/SN is nothing out of the ordinary…but Queen’s Blade? GSC / Max Factory besides the Cute Figma and the Nendo-Petit QB keychains have not tapped into that potential money-maker. Perhaps this can lead to QB Figmas/Nendo/Scaled figures? Also, make an Archer Figma dammit!

    I read that professional Japanese figure sculptors craft a physical old fashioned statue to make figures. I thought they did it with computer 3d modeling first because the previews we see are so perfect. The surface has no jagged chisel marks. Thats incredible workmanship.
