Yesterday, on Saturday, was our 3rd Singapore Blogger Outing. We’ve been doing this on monthly basis, and yesterday’s theme was basically an Outdoor Photoshoot, where we brought out some of our figures and did a photoshoot on them.

The venue was at Toa Payoh Town Park, located near Toa Payoh MRT Station and the outing lasted from 3.00 PM until around 9.00 PM, since we are also going for the night photoshoot.

outing

Although the outing was mainly consist of Team Blue members, anyone who are interested is welcome to join us ^^ Thanks to Panther, again, for organizing the outing.

I will divide the coverage into 2 parts. The 1st part is mainly the coverage report plus some photos. Second part is mainly the photos ^^ Coverage starts here~XD

outing

So I went early around 2.30 PM, since I had to go to City Hall to collect my “Wonfest 2008 Goodies” ^^ I met up with Fariz around 3.00 PM at Toa Payoh MRT Station and went to the park together. It was quite a hot day and luckily no rainy day ^^

When we arrived there, Squee, Gordon, and Hirito were already there. They were scouting the place earlier to see if we can find any nice spot for our photoshoot. Raven and Panther arrived a while later around 4.00 PM. In the end, there were 7 of us total who went for the outing. There were supposed to be more, but I guess something important came up.

This is where the fun starts ^^

So we took out our figures, and showed what we got. In my case I brought most of my Figma figures; Yuki, Haruhi, Saber, & Lulu (Review coming~:p). Gordon brought his Claire out, Hirito with his Nendo-petit Mikuru Frog suit & Sawatari Makoto, Panther with his Shinra, Fariz and Nendo Miku, and lastly Squee with his Pinky St. figures plus Kanu Unchou. I don’t think Raven brought any.

So we took a group photo of our figures:

And also a group shot ^^

Then we went for our photoshoot!!

So everyone splited up and went to their favourite spots. There were actually some passers-by that saw us while we taking photos. Some of them just ignored us, and others actually stop and watched us doing our stuffs ^^; At the same time, we also exchanged knowledge on photography stuffs.

outing

Raven left earlier not long later. Hirito was the next to leave, and then Gordon until around 6 PM. So only me, Panther, Squee, and Fariz left for the night photoshoot. We went for dinner 1st before continuing our night photoshoot at the nearest Food Court. I forgot what the place called, but they got one of the nicest cold Honey Lemon Drink, which is really perfect after a long hot day~XD

outing

Then we went for our night photoshoot. To tell the truth, night photoshoot is one of the hardest to take, and also one that takes lots of effort, but the results were something that is worth doing ^^ I’m really pleased with the results~

We then left around 9 PM ^^

That ends my coverage of the outing. There will be more photoshoot outing planned in the future, and I think the next one would be in October if I’m not mistaken. Saber welcomes anyone who are interested!!

More Photos coming in Part 2 of the coverage ^^

A Day At Singapore Botanical Garden

June 8, 2008

A change of topic than the usual~XD

I went to Singapore Botanical Garden the other day, as part of our Photography Class outing assignment. It was really a hot tiring day, as in you have to walk to one end to the other end ( > _ < ) There’s no transportation, and it’s definitely not a short walk to get around the Garden ^^; I just wish they would provide a bicycle rental place or something.

Although it was a hot day, it was quite worth it ^^ Took some nice shots there~ The only thing I regret of not having is the Macro lens. It’s not cheap, however ^^;

My Secret Base (Well Not Really~)

June 4, 2008

I’ve decided to take some photos of my current room as of June 2008, after seeing Danny’s new “Your Room” sub-section Member’s News ^^ I just did some cleaning, so I think this is the perfect time to do this ^^ This is also a good time for those who are stil curious on how do I get all the space to display my collections ^^;

Anyway, lets start off with an overview of the room~

(Right Click on images, and choose “Open Image” for larger version)

The left side is the Figure section and the right is the Gunpla section. The space between them is where I do all my work~

A look on the Gunpla section~ The lower part is where I kept all my Nendoroid-Petits~

myroom 2

A look on the lower Gunpla section~ All the Nendoroids are well kept in a special display case, which makes my job much easier when cleaning them ^^ Put my Figmas there so I can play with them when I’m bored~XD

myroom 3

The top is some of the Gunpla boxes (Yeah, Dendrobium takes lots of space = _ = )~

myroom 4

My work space~ Also the space where I converted it to my “Mini-Studio” to do all the reviews ^^~ As you can see, I have 2 Desk Lamps, which are essentials for my reviews~XD

MG Strike Freedom -FBM- (The only perfect place to display it ^^; )

myroom 12

The only Manga I have collected so far~All in English (and that’s my Astraea which I still need to find the time to build on > _ < ).

myroom 13

All my PSP & PC games~ Also Meifeng’s and Rize’s Box which I still kept for my reviews. The rest of the figure boxes is inside the cupboard below.

myroom 14

More Gunpla boxes~ That’s my “1/60 Strike Freedom – Lightening Edition” on the left, which I still havent done any review on ^^; Brown box is my “Diffuser” for photoshoot lightening purposes.

Another corner of the room, where I displayed my humongous Dendrobium and Destiny -EBM-~ I just lucky to have the space ^^; Below is some of the Hobby Search boxes, which I still haven’t thrown away ^^;

Lastly, my only Nanoha Wall Scroll which I acquired from KKnM last year (It was the only item at KKnM) ^^;

I’m kind of blessed with all the display space, but as you can see, everything is in the open. So I have no choice but to clean atleast once a month. Such a hastle ( > _ < ) I’m planning to get myself a new Detolf Cabinet when I have the chance ^^

That’s about it I guess ^^ A little bit cramped, but I kind of happy with the overall layout, since it’s just perfect for me ^^

Esplanade At Night

May 5, 2008

So, I went to Esplanade the other day to take some photos, as part of my Digital Photography Class “Night Photo” assignment. This is also a chance where I can fully use my new tripod ^^;

I have to say, it’s a great experience for me, since it’s my first time doing this kind of stuff ^^

New Tripod

April 29, 2008

Just got myself a new “Velbon CX 540” Tripod few days ago ^^ Got it for S$40, which I think is quite a cheap price for a tripod. This should helped my future photo reviews, since I get to set my camera to lower ISO and such ( > _ < )v The previous Kuonji Shinra review used this tripod.

The tripod is really good I have to say. Firm and strong. It can get to a maximum height of 160cm and I think can hold a maximum of 2kg in weight ^^ Definitely a good bargain~

Some photos ^^

This is my “DSLR Nikon D40”, which I’m currently using if anyone wondering ^^; All current reviews used this camera.

Photoshoot Set Up Adjustment

April 12, 2008

You can view the previous attempt here

So today I went to IKEA to get myself an additional lamp for the overhead lightening. Got myself a cheap desk lamp for S$12.00 ^^ Tried the new set up, and found out that my new IKEA lamp is much more brighter than my other one. So I had to switch them around; New lamp as the main one and the previous “main” lamp for the overhead lightening. Below is how it looks like with the new set up:

kosmos

Used my “KOS-MOS Ver. 4” as test model again and with the same background, etc, and the results:

Before:

After (New Settings):

Testing With different background:

I have to say there’s quite an improvement compared to the previous setting ^^ One thing that I found out and learned is that background colour/texture does affects the overall outcome. So you can’t really use random background when taking photos. Each figurines needs a suitable background colour for them to get the best outcome ^^

I just need to adjust the position of the lamp a bit, and it should come alright next time \( > _ < )/

New Photoshoot Lightening Set Up

April 10, 2008

This is just a look on the new lightening set up I’m planning to use for my future reviews.

New set up:

new

– A desk lamp
– Custom made “Diffuser” (Cardbox + Tracing Paper)
– A Reflector (A piece of white board)

Results:

kosmos

kosmos 2

I went to Artfriend today to get the materials. Bought the tracing paper and some new thick colour papers for the background. Using my “KOS-MOS Ver.4” for test model, I think the result came much better than I expected ^^ Although a second light source from the top would be nice and makes it much better. I tried using my room light, and the result didn’t come right. I guess I’ll go and check out IKEA for some cheap lamp ^^;

I’ve checked lots of website/blogs, for some advice on the lightening. In particular, I just want to thank Super Rats for the awesome (and cheap) tutorial on this ^^

This coming “Fauna 1/8 Scale” reviews will be using the new set up. Look forward to it ( ^ _ ^ )/

Ah forgot to add. All photos taken using SLR Nikon D40 ^^;
