MG Ex-S Gundam

January 24, 2008

Next Gunpla entry is this big “MG Ex-S Gundam” ^^

Ex-S

This is one impressive MG kit. Compared to normal MG, Ex-S Gundam is bigger and almost double the size of a 1/100 scale. Even the stand use for it is the same one as the one from “PG Skygrasper + Aile Striker Pack” ^^ It can transform into either Gundam mode or the “Cruiser” mode. Also comes with an extra “Core” ship for display. If you watch SEED Destiny, it’s almost similar as Impulse Gundam in terms of transformability, but of course, much better ^^

Sad to say, but this is one of the kits I have that don’t have any panel lines done yet. I’ll start panelling it once I have some free time
^^; The other 2 Kits I have with no panel lines yet is “MG Strike Noir” and “PG Skygrasper”.

Anyway, the usual shots (Decided not to take pics of the cruiser mode,
since It’s quite a hazzle to do it) ^^;

Nagato Yuki 1/8 Scale Figure (Max Factory)

January 23, 2008

I was surprised when I saw a package on my table after I got home from classes today. Stupid me, I totally forgot I ordered this last month through Hobby Search for 5,200 Yen ( = _ = ); Anyway what’s in the package was this lovely “Nagato Yuki 1/8 Scale Figure” from Max Factory ^^ Now I’m left with Mikuru and Tsuruya to complete my collection ^^;

yuki

The box actually much bigger than the previous 2 Max Factory figures, since this time you can swap Yuki’s costume between the school uniform and the witch outfit ^^ The figure comes with an extra upper body and the witch outfit (Hat, Cape, and Wand) set. Also 2 pairs of glasses~

Another great quality figure from Max Factory. Now I’m confused whether I want to display Yuki with the normal uniform or the witch costume ( > _ <);; Both version looks great ^^;

Konata from Lucky Star (Figma)

January 22, 2008

Dannychoo.com just posted a good news regarding a new “Figma” figure featuring Konata from Lucky Star. The news Stated that this figure is made as part of the Wonder Festival activities. Good Smile Company will be taking pre-orders soon for this figure. Whether you can get this through other online shops is still unknown.

Konata

Will you be getting this? I know I will ^^ Other Figma figures so far that I know of is Nagato Yuki and the main character from Code Geass (forgive me, forgot his name >.<; ) The turn off point probably the joints, but I think it looks great ^^ I don’t think you can find any other Konata figure cosplaying as Haruhi anywhere else (for now), and the quality is great ^^;

MG Strike Freedom Gundam – Full Burst Mode –

January 21, 2008

Another excellent kit from my collection is this “MG Strike Freedom Gundam – Full Burst Mode -“ ^^

SF

This kit is worth every penny, if you do have some extra cash to get it. Apart from the normal MG Strike Freedom, FBM comes with gold chrome joint and an additional stand for the “Dragoon System” gimmick ^^ Moreover, it also comes with a special bonus poster. The poster made out of plastic instead of paper, featuring Strike Freedom VS Destiny + the pilots. The decals also comes with gold effect instead of silver in FBM version.

The bonus poster:

SF 8

Basically in this FBM version, you get to display your “Dragoons” as if it was flying midair, by using some clear plastic wire. The let down of it is that it isn’t sturdy enough, which cause it to bend down when displayed.

Close up (I like how it turns out ^^)~

SF 9

Took me around 3 days to complete it. Despite the wire problem, FBM is worth getting, just like MG Destiny’s EBM version ^^

MG Strike Gundam + I.W.S.P

January 20, 2008

Next Gunpla entry from my collection is this cool looking “MG Strike Gundam + I.W.S.P” ^^

iwsp

To tell the truth I really like how it looks, and it got one heck of weapon arsenal ^^; If you own “MG Strike Noir”, you can actually equip Striker’s I.W.S.P pack on it, and vice versa. Well according to the story, I.W.S.P is the prototype of Strike Noir~ Took me around 2 days to complete it.

The usual shots :p

It has 2 swords, 1 beam rifle, extra shield, 2 beam cannon, and more. What can I say, another excellent MG kit worth getting ^^

On another note, “MG Strike E + I.W.S.P” owns both Strike I.W.S.P and Noir’s weapon arsenal ^^;

MG Unicorn Gundam + MG Destiny Gundam (EBM)

January 19, 2008

Finally, after a long wait, my MG Unicorn Gundam arrived at HAG today. Just went to collect it this afternoon ^^ While collecting, to my surprise, saw MG Destiny Gundam “Extreme Blast Mode” just arrived at the store also. So, I’ve decided to get it, since they’re having a special discount only for this weekend. Sold for S$109…Can’t resist ^^;

boxes

Quite busy this week, so probably won’t be able to start building until next week. I think I’ll start with Unicorn 1st, then EBM ^^;

As mentioned before, HAG is having a special discount only for this weekend. Their stocks just arrived today and lots of it, which includes MG Strike Freedom FBM, MG Hi-Nu, 1/60 Gundam Exia, MG Sazabi MCV, and more!! So try and pay a visit while promotion last ^^

Gundam 00 For Nintendo DS

January 19, 2008

If you didn’t know yet, there are plans for a new Gundam 00 game for Nintendo DS this coming March. This will be the 1st Gundam 00 game ever released on any consoles/handheld games. The game is planned for a release on 27th March, 2008 in Japan. They have just recently release a PV for the game. You can view the trailer below:

And the official website here

I think the game looks okay for a DS game, although I do believe that DS isn’t really suitable for 3D games, interms of graphics. They do really good in 2D though ^^;

Asakura Ryoko 1/8 Scale Figure (Max Factory)

January 18, 2008
Just got another Max Factory’s “Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu” figure series to add to my collection ^^;
This time is “Asakura Ryoko 1/8 Scale Figure”. Got this from KKnM for S$67, and lucky me, I think this is the last of the stock ^^

ryoko

The figure comes with an additional “Hand” holding a knife/dagger.

As usual, another excellent quality figure from Max Factory ^^ Took lots of shots. This time tried to do with different background (I really need to learn to take better shots XD~)

I think I like this background better than the usual “Curtain” shots :p I’ll probably need to get more lights for better picture.

EDIT: Added 2 new “test” pics for my new photo taking set up below ^^;

1/100 Gundam Exia

January 17, 2008

I should have done this entry 1st before Dynames ^^; Anyway, next is “1/100 Gundam Exia” ^^, the first 1/100 scale kit for “Gundam 00” series.

exia

Took me 2 days to assemble this kit, complete with panel lines and everything. I think all Gundam 00 1/100 scale kits are worth getting.

Can’t wait for their MG release, since their kit for Gundam 00 is really good even for a No-Grade ^^

MG Destiny Gundam

January 16, 2008

Back to Gunpla ^^; Next entry from my collection is “MG Destiny Gundam”. I was actually planning to get the “Extreme Blast Mode” version, but it’s sold out everywhere =( In the end I decided to get the normal version.

destiny

Actually I saw EBM one day at Hobby Point when I was going to watch movie at Tiong Bahru Plaza. I was strooling around when I spotted it. If I remembered correctly, the price was S$140, which is quite high. I was hesitant to buy it, but decided to get it after the movie. 2 hours later, after the movie, it went -poof-, someone actually got it before me ^^; I was like “haha… tough luck!!” XD~

Anyway, some shots ^^

Overall, this is a good kit worth getting. I dont think there’s much different between the normal and the EBM version, other than the metallic chrome joint and the “Wings of Light”. But if you have some extra cash, then get the EBM XD.

A little note. MG Destiny Gundam is actually the first Gunpla I ever tried to apply panel lines on ^^

Nendoroid-Petit Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu #01 (Good Smile)

January 12, 2008

Alright!! Next is “Nendoroid-Petit Suzumiya Haruhi no Yutsuu #01” from Good Smile Company, which I got like a month ago. I ordered this online through Hobby Search for 5400 yen.

petit

petit 2

It comes in 12 sets figures, which include Haruhi herself, Mikuru, Yuki, Tsuruya, and Kyon. Each character gets 2 version of themselves plus a secret figure, which totals up into 11 different figures. Figure No. 12 is basically a random extra figure. In my case, I got another Kyon ^^; Each figure measures no more than 6 cm of height (That’s why it’s called “Petit” ^^;) and each cost for 500 yen, if you buy them individually.

Some shots:

Comparison with my 1/8 scale Haruhi ^^:

petit 6

petit 7

Cute aren’t they? 😀

Some notes on the figures. Some people have been complaining about getting lots of defects. One of the problems is that they cannot stand properly or the hands keep falling off. Well to be honest, it’s true that they can be quite hard to put together, but I think it’s acceptable. For a figure worth 500 yen, I think the amount of work they put on this figure is really great. The details are really good for a 500 yen figure and they’re so adorable ^^ These are for display anyway, so as long as you don’t play with them much, I think it should be fine ^^

PS: If you are wondering, the “Secret Figure” is Haruhi in cheerleading outfit ^^

Suzumiya Haruhi 1/8 Scale Figure (Max Factory)

January 11, 2008

Just got this “Suzumiya Haruhi 1/8 Scale Figure (Max Factory)” from KKnM today for S$56 ^^ Been looking for this figure for ages, always sold out or out of stock. I was strooling around at KKnM when I spotted this, was like “Lucky!!” ^^

Haruhi

It comes with additional hand holding the baton and a “Kantoku (Director)” (Correct me if I’m wrong ^^;) band, which you can swap around~

Mitsuru Kirijo 1/7 Scale Figure (Kotobukiya)

January 10, 2008

Gonna switch to different topic other than Gunpla this time ^^;

This time is my “Mitsuru Kirijo 1/7 Scale Figure” from the Playstation 2 game, “Persona 3”.

mitsuru

Video on Mitsuru:

Persona 3 Opening:

Persona 3 FES Opening:

When I played Persona 3 for the 1st time on Playstation 2, I totally fell in love with the game. One is because of the Storyline, unique Gameplay, soundtrack and the character design. The game is like a mixed of both typical RPG games
and Dating Simulation, since you do need to strengthen your relationship with your so-called partner in order to obtain stronger “Persona”. I totally recommends the game.

Anyway, one of the character that you get to play is “Mitsuru Kirijo”. She’s like the “Perfect” girl in the game storyline; Smart, pretty, sexy, rich, and of course it won’t be complete without the Student Council President position ^^;

She just have that “charm”, if you get what I mean ^^

Back to topic :p I spotted this figure at KKnM (was quite hidden among the boxes) and decided to get it for S$90.

I really like the quality of the figure. It’s well-detailed ^^

Some shots:

mitsuru 2

mitsuru 3

mitsuru 4

mitsuru 5

mitsuru 6

mitsuru 7

mitsuru 8

What I like about it is the base stand. One of the stuff is the design, but the main highlight is that it can act as a “container”. They made it so that you can store the “extra” hands and weapons inside ^^ The skirt is also removable hehe 😀

I spotted “Aegis” at Rapid Culture the other day, but someone got it before me 😦

Anyway another news is that the new anime based on the game Persona 3, just started this week. It takes place 10 years after the event of the game. Title is “Persona -Trinity Soul-“ ^^

Upcoming Gunpla Kit

January 10, 2008

Some of the highlights of the upcoming gunpla kit that I’m targetting for month Febuary/March:

1/100 Gundam Virtue/Gundam Nadleeh: 4,200 Yen

(March release)

Keep in mind that the kit’s high cost, which close to MG price, is because it can transform to either of the 2 Gundams.

virtue/nadleeh

MG Nu-Gundam – Metallic Coating Version: 8,925 Yen

(Febuary release)

To pair up with the MG Sazabi – Metallic Coating Version release.

nu

Taken from Gunota.

Other releases include MG Strike E + IWSP & HG Throne Eins for Febuary release.

Getting Strike E would really depends on the kit, since it only recycles existing MG parts, which includes MG Strike Noir & MG Strike + IWSP.

So I probably not gonna get it, but I’m looking forward to Virtue/Nadleeh and Nu ^^

1/100 Gundam Dynames

January 8, 2008

Next entry is 1/100 Gundam Dynames, which was released not long ago.~

Dynames

I bought this from Rapid Culture at Orchard Cinelesure 2nd floor for S$39.90. Just like any other 1/100 scale kit, there’s no decals given, just stickers. I really like the recent 1/100 scale release for Gundam 00 kits. The quality is just getting better and better, close to that of an MG.

Took me 2 days to finish it. That includes panel lines and some painting.

Overall, I really like how the kit turned out ^^

Dynames 2

Dynames 3

Dynames 4

As for January 2008 release, I can’t wait for “1/100 Gundam Kyrios” and “MG Gundam Unicorn Ver.Ka” ^^

MG Sazabi – Metallic Coating Version

January 7, 2008

Transferred from old blog.

As promised, I will update my Journal with other stuffs, such as my collections of Hobby Kits~^^

For starters, my recently acquired Gundam kit is this beautiful “MG Sazabi – Metallic Coating Version”.

Sazabi

For your info, this kit has the highest price for an MG(Master Grade) kit from Bandai, with a whoopin price of 14,000 yen. Normal MG kit, even the special ones will net you no more than 7000 yen. I managed to get this kit for S$198 (Singapore Dollar), when the original price is supposed to be S$290. I think it’s a good bargain ^^

I’m not really surprised on why is it so expensive. First of is the quality of the paint job done on this kit. The metallic effects is not the same with those of other “Special” kits, such as the “Extra Finish” version. Second is the water decals. Surprisingly there’s no dry decals provided. Usually “Special” kits have both of them. Probably this is to prevent damages on the kit, since dry decals needs some “scratching” needed ^^;. The water decals is different from what I usually used. It’s more slicked and easy to apply, and the quality is also great with the silver and gold effects.

The only letdown is that the “Gold” parts paint job isnt as good as the red ones. So you do need to re-paint them with a gold marker.

Anyway, I managed to finish this kit in 1 day, which is surprisingly fast for a Master Grade kit. The reason is that there isn’t really a need to do Panel Lines, just water decals (and I was on holiday haha.. ^^;). Some painting and colouring is needed on the rocket booster if you want it to look better, but it’s optional~

Here are some shots of the finished kit:

Sazabi 2

Sazabi 3

Sazabi 4

Sazabi 5

Sazabi 6

Sazabi 7

It’s definitely cool looking and shiny~^^~ The Size is bigger than normal 1/100 MG, almost as big as MG EX-S Gundam with the stand.

I will post my other collections in the future and backtracks ^^;

HGUC GP03 Dendrobium

January 7, 2008

Transferred from old blog.

Next entry is this HGUC GP03 Dendrobium, another amazing kit that I acquired not long ago. This kit is the biggest kit that Bandai ever produced, with a whoopin length of 40 inches, which is equivalent to 101 cm, with the price of 24,000 yen. >.<~

I ordered this through Hobbylink Japan for 30,000 yen, which includes shipping cost. You will understand why it’s big ^^;

First of all, this is the packaging when it arrived at my place:

Dendrobium 1

Yeah, it’s big. I was surprised when I saw it (but it looks kinda cool though with the “Bandai” logo on it :p). The box has “1/144 Gundam GP03 Dendrobium” printed on it, if you are wondering.

Anyway, the actual box kit isn’t really that big. It’s only half the size of it. The other half is just some sponges and plastics to protect the kit. This is the actual box:

Dendrobium 2

Dendrobium 3

Still, it’s bigger than other kit ^^; It even has a plastic handle to carry it around ^^;

When you opened the box, it contains 2 containers; A & B:

Dendrobium 4

You can even line up both containers together to make a nice image~

Inside, there are actually 2 kits that you need to build, the “Orchis” pack and the HG 1/144 GP03 “Statem” itself. There was supposed to be a DVD included with an episode of “Gundam Evolve”, which features Dendrobium itself, but it was only given with the initial release of the kit. It was released in 2002 I think, if I’m not mistaken =/

Anyway with a kit this big, one would think that it would be really difficult to build it, since there are a lot of parts which is labelled from A-Z (zomg!!) and that is still not enough , until Bandai had to add another group of A-Z with an added “W” (WA-WZ).

But no worries!! Bandai is smart enough to arrange the parts in order to make your life easier. This is what you should do if you ever bought one:

1. Always starts from Container A

2. Never take out all the parts or just randomly put them elsewhere. Bandai is kind enough to stack them in order. So if you do taken them out of the container, I mean all of it, try to put them back in the same stack order and manner as when it was still in the container. Only take out what is needed, one by one.

3. Just follow the manual carefully and you’ll be fine ^^

This kit is pretty challenging even for a veteran. One word of advice is that you need some extra force and strength to put this “monster” together, since some parts is really difficult and need some real push to put together.

With this size, panel lines really a hazzle to do. Painting is also needed on some areas. Surprisingly, for a kit this big, there’s no decals provided, but lots of screwing.

Some shots in-the-making:

Dendrobium 5

As you can see, there are metal plates provided for this kit, total of 3 plates, which I think is needed to balance it and it’s pretty heavy. The finished kit is nearly 2 kg in weight (ouch!).

This just shows how big it is, from the tip of the main cannon to the back of tail booster (btw, that’s my Strike Freedom Lightening Edition ^^;):

Dendrobium 6

Dendrobium 7

In the end, it took me 4 days to complete Dendrobium, but it was worth it.(was expecting it to take longer ^^;)

First is the GP03 Statem:

Dendrobium 8

Dendrobium 9

Dendrobium 10

It is actually quite well detailed for an HG~

Next is equipped with the “Orchis” pack (Gattai Da!!):

Dendrobium 11

Dendrobium 12

Dendrobium 13

Dendrobium 14

The pack can also act as a weapon container.

I have to say, Bandai did went all out for this kit and it’s definitely a nice addition. The only letdown is the space needed for this kit!! lol
