1/100 Gundam Virtue “Gundam Virtue Mode”

April 16, 2008

Here it is as promise, the second part of the review for “1/100 Gundam Virtue” ^^ This time it features Gundam Virtue ^^

virtue

There isn’t much different between Virtue and Nadleeh in terms of details and looks. Both looks great (Now I’m tempted to get a 2nd set so just I can display both >_< ), but mobility wise there’s a big difference. As mentioned before, Nadleeh has pretty much limited mobility. Now you can imagine for Virtue with all the added armors ^^; Mobility pretty much cut by half ( > _ < );

As for cast off and transformation, it isn’t that hard to do ^^ If you compared it to Unicorn‘s transformation, this is nothing :p If you ever played an action figure that can be cast off, pretty much like it.

Anyway, the usual shots~

Kotobukiya’s Nero Reservation Starts!!

April 15, 2008

nero

nero 2

This cool looking Non-Scale figure of Nero from Devil May Cry 4 will be available for you this coming August 2008 by Kotobukiya ^^ This figure will be up for 8,800 Yen and Hobby Search is taking pre-orders of ot as of today ^^

Hmm I have to say, it’s quite expensive compared to others since it used “ABS” instead of PVC. But personally, I prefer this figure of Nero than Dante’s one ^^;

DreamWorks To Make a 3D Live-Action Movie Adaptation Of “Ghost In The Shell”

April 15, 2008

gits

The American film production company DreamWorks has revealed that it has licensed the rights to adapt Masamune Shirow‘s Ghost in the Shell cyber-police manga into a 3D live-action film. The story of an elite paramilitary unit in future Japan has already been adapted into three animated films and two television anime series. DreamWorks has released the second animated Ghost in the Shell film, Innocence, in North America. DreamWorks also released Millennium Actress and produced Transformers, another live-action science-fiction film with Japanese roots.

Variety reports that Universal and Sony also negotiated for the rights, which the Production I.G anime studio was pitching for the manga’s original publisher Kodansha. What turned the dealmaking in DreamWorks’ favor was co-founder Steven Spielberg‘s enthusiasm for the project. The entertainment trade newspaper quotes the acclaimed director and producer:

“Ghost in the Shell is one of my favorite stories. It’s a genre that has arrived, and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks.”

Avi Arad (formerly of Marvel Studios as well as of the Spider-Man and X-Men movie franchises), Arad’s son Ari, and Seaside Entertainment‘s Steven Paul brought the project to DreamWorks and will produce. Jamie Moss (Street Kings, Last Man Home) has been assigned to script the project.

1/100 Gundam Virtue “Gundam Nadleeh Mode”

April 14, 2008

It’s been a while, but finally I managed to finish my “1/100 Gundam Virtue” ^^ Sorry if it took so long, been pretty busy lately ( > _ < );

nadleeh

Since “1/100 Gundam Virtue” allows you to transform to Gundam Nadleeh, I will divide the review into 2 parts just like what I did with Unicorn; one for Virtue mode and one for Nadleeh mode. For starter I will start with Nadleeh ^^ Review for Virtue will follow later ^^

Virtue is a little bit expensive this time compared to other previous 1/100 scale releases, and that’s because it’s like getting a 2 in 1 package ^^; In terms of mobility, Nadleeh pretty much limited, but nevertheless it’s still a cool looking kit ^^

Took me 2 days overall to complete it, although I was expecting it to take longer. One reason is because, pretty much, there’s a lot of painting to do. I did the best I could to make it as close as the manual. Compared to “1/100 Gundam Kyrios”, it’s much more difficult this time ^^; I had to repaint the cable cord to “pink” colour, and luckily my Gundam SEED Destiny marker set have the colour ( > _ < );

Overall, I have to say they did a really good job to get it as close as the anime counterpart in terms of details ^^

Anyway, let the photos do the talk ^^

This news was actually few days old, but Hobby Search is now taking reservations for it as of today ^^

This upcoming “Belldandy” PVC figure by Toys Works will be up for 7,400 Yen and scheduled for September 2008 release ^^

Looks like the design is based on the Manga series ( ^ _ ^ )/

Photoshoot Set Up Adjustment

April 12, 2008

You can view the previous attempt here

So today I went to IKEA to get myself an additional lamp for the overhead lightening. Got myself a cheap desk lamp for S$12.00 ^^ Tried the new set up, and found out that my new IKEA lamp is much more brighter than my other one. So I had to switch them around; New lamp as the main one and the previous “main” lamp for the overhead lightening. Below is how it looks like with the new set up:

kosmos

Used my “KOS-MOS Ver. 4” as test model again and with the same background, etc, and the results:

Before:

kosmos

After (New Settings):

kosmos

Testing With different background:

kosmos

I have to say there’s quite an improvement compared to the previous setting ^^ One thing that I found out and learned is that background colour/texture does affects the overall outcome. So you can’t really use random background when taking photos. Each figurines needs a suitable background colour for them to get the best outcome ^^

I just need to adjust the position of the lamp a bit, and it should come alright next time \( > _ < )/

Shokotan Goes Bruce Lee!! Waataa!!

April 12, 2008

Saw this the other day on Youtube~XD It’s a clip from a show (I think), featuring Nakagawa Shouko, also known as Shokotan, doing a skit where she stars as a Female-like Bruce Lee ^^; If you didn’t know, Shokotan is a big fan of Bruce Lee and also one big Otaku :p You can watch the clip below:

I have to say, she can really use the Nunchakus pretty well ( + _ + );

Kotobukiya’s Haruka Pre-Orders Starts!!

April 11, 2008

haruka

Another figure of Haruka from the eroge “Beat Blades Haruka” is ready for reservations ^^ This time it’s Kotobukiya‘s turn to give Haruka the PVC treatment~

Goes under the name “Sennin Haruka”, this 1/8 scale figure by Kotobukiya is scheduled for July 2008 release, with the price tag of 5,800 Yen. Hobby Search is taking pro-orders for it starting today ^^

I wonder if there’s a competition between Kotobukiya and Alter since it has the same pose :p, but both figures definitely looks gorgeous in their own ways ^^; Looks like I’m getting both the Alter and Kotobukiya’s version \( > _ < )/

Fauna 1/8 Scale (Max Factory) [R18]

April 11, 2008

Here it is, as promised, the review for my “Fauna 1/8 Scale” from Max Factory which arrived few days ago ^^

fauna

Unfortunately (or fortunate), due to the nature of the figure, this will be another R18 content of review ^^; As usual, I’ll be posting the uncensored Full Cast Off photos, so just like before, don’t read this review if you find them offensive.

A little info on the character~ Fauna is the main heroine from the eroge “Megamisama Chu uihou” or “Megachu!”, and also the hentai anime adaptation of the same title. You can view the OP from the game below:

Just like the anime counterpart, this figure is too awesome to boot~XD The expression and the pose is great, and don’t forget the Full Cast Off goodies~ The paint job is great, and another charm points is the “Transparent” skirt ^^ I can’t recall any other figures from Max Factory that has Full Cast Off capabilities, so this might be the first.

The figure comes with an instruction manual on how to cast off the dress. No other accessories included, just a stand.

Anyway, just like I mentioned before, I’ll be using the new photoshoot set up for this review. So here are the usual shots~^^

New Photoshoot Lightening Set Up

April 10, 2008

This is just a look on the new lightening set up I’m planning to use for my future reviews.

New set up:

new

– A desk lamp
– Custom made “Diffuser” (Cardbox + Tracing Paper)
– A Reflector (A piece of white board)

Results:

kosmos

kosmos 2

I went to Artfriend today to get the materials. Bought the tracing paper and some new thick colour papers for the background. Using my “KOS-MOS Ver.4” for test model, I think the result came much better than I expected ^^ Although a second light source from the top would be nice and makes it much better. I tried using my room light, and the result didn’t come right. I guess I’ll go and check out IKEA for some cheap lamp ^^;

I’ve checked lots of website/blogs, for some advice on the lightening. In particular, I just want to thank Super Rats for the awesome (and cheap) tutorial on this ^^

This coming “Fauna 1/8 Scale” reviews will be using the new set up. Look forward to it ( ^ _ ^ )/

Ah forgot to add. All photos taken using SLR Nikon D40 ^^;

Another Double Trouble From Alter!!

April 10, 2008

Another 2 new entries by Alter finally ready for Pre-orders. These 2 particular figures were shown during Wonder Festival 2008.

mina

haruka

Hobby Search just opened the reservation for these 2 gorgeous figures as of today; Tsukishiro Mi-na from the anime Getsumen to Heiki Mina at 6,300 Yen and Takamori Haruka from the eroge Beat Blades Haruka at 6,800 Yen. Mi-na is scheduled for August 2008 release, and Haruka for September 2008 release.

It’s still a long way, but I might be getting Haruka ^^;

Another Celebration

April 10, 2008

I woke up this morning, and found out that my blog exceeded 10,000 hits ( > _ < )v Well to tell the truth I didn’t expect to reach 5 digits this soon ( > o < )/ It might not be something spectacular for some of you, but after just a little over 3 months time, this really a new milestone for me, and it all thanks to you guys!! ^^

I just want to thank for all the supports and for those who took their time to visit my blog all this time, even if it’s just by accident or coincidence ~m( _  _ )m~

This just gave me more motivation to keep improving my blog and make it better ^^

To celebrate, here’s a song which I just got recently. It’s the OP song of the PC game by Nitro+ called “Kishin Hishou Demonbane”, titled “Rise On Green Wings” sang by Itou Kanako of Ethereal Echo ^^

Queen’s Blade Airi (Mega House) [R18]

April 8, 2008

Sorry for the late post ^^; Here it is as promised, the review of “Queen’s Blade Airi” by Mega House, which I acquired from La Tendo few days ago ^^

airi

Since this is from the same series as “Queen’s Blade Nyx” and also the same company maker, expect another R18 review content ^^; I’ll be posting the Full Cast Off photos without any censors marks, so if you find them offensive, please refraint from reading the review (Although it’ll probably won’t stop you~XD) ^^;

I didn’t really gave much information on the series before, so I’ll do so now for those who are curious.

Queen’s Blade series is actually not an anime or a console game. Well, it is a “game”, but it’s under the “Combat Picture Game” by using a number of “Books” to play. It’s adapted or maybe a spin-off from quite a well known “Visual Book” game called “Lost World”. For more info you can go Here.

There’s a total of 15 different characters from the series currently, with each designed by different well known character designers. Atleast half of them already gotten the “Figure” treatment, so expect more of them to be released in near future ^^ Queen’s Blade gained quite a popularity which in the end gave birth to a new spin-off series called “Queen’s gate”. I think there are only 3 characters currently in the Queen’s Gate series, with Nijihara Ink as one of them from the Moetan series ^^

You can go to the Official Website of Queen’s Blade/Gate for more info.

Anyway, back to our topic!! ( > _ < );

I’m pretty much satisfied with Airi and at the same time impressed by it. Well, what can you expect from a pretty girl wearing a maid uniform, holding a deadly scythe ready for some action ^^; The details and paint jobs is just…wow, not mentioning the Full Cast Off goodies. I really like the scythe the most, as it looks…deadly :p

airi

The figure only comes with a stand, no other extra accessories. My only complains on the figure, it’s pretty hard to figure out the cast off method for first timer, since there’s no instructions on how to do it. So be careful if you ever bought one. I almost broke the ribbons myself ( > _ < ) Another one is attaching the weapon to the figure itself. There isn’t really much support for the weapon, so it’s pretty much frustrating at times, since it keeps dropping off.

Other than that, it’s pretty much a well worth to get figure ^^

Anyway, the usual shots~

Super Mario Brothers “GONG” Version

April 7, 2008

Just saw this today. A custom made Super Mario Brothers level, which syncly plays and rhymes with JAM Projects“GONG” ^^

All Super Robot Taisen fans should know this song. It’s the theme for “Super Robot Wars Alpha 3” if I’m not wrong, and JAM Project is a pretty well known group singers in the Gaming and Anime world ^^ One of them is Okui Masami and Hironobu Kageyama who sang “Chala Head Chala”, the OP theme for Dragonball Z. figma

Hobby Complex is another event where you get to see the new and future Hobby related items (which include Figures~) just like Wonfest, although it’s not as big as Wonfest~XD “Hobby Complex 03” Just ended yesterday on 6th April, 2008.

You can view more photos of the figures displayed during the event at Akiba Hobby and Tokyo Hunter.
